Horses – all together now!

Aya, Gus, & LucyOver the weekend all the horses finally moved in together. They are not yet on the property, but they are several steps closer. They moved to the field behind Mary’s house (about 6 miles from our ranch), where she can keep an eye on them and continue their training. Here’s a summary of who we have:

Lucy – the 12 year old Belgian cross mare (on the right). Currently being trained to drive and do the bulk of the farm work.

Aya – the 4 year old Arabian, Shire, Thoroughbred cross mare (on the left) from Sweetwater Shires. She will be trained to follow in Lucy’s footsteps.

Gus – 3 year old Thoroughbred gelding (center). Mary adopted him when an injury ended his racing career before it began. We expect him to heal fully from his surgery to remove bone fragments from a joint and to grow up to be an excellent riding horse and companion horse for the mares.
