State of the Farm – early December

As dry as everything was when I last posted in October, it is that wet now. A series of small rain storms got the ball rolling (or, should I say, the grass growing?). And then a big rain storm this past week really soaked the area. The good news is that the ponds did their job and gathered a large amount of that water. And while I hope the rains continue (there’s another big storm forecast for this week), we haven’t gotten our entry road graveled yet, so access will be tricky for a bit.

One thing I have grown to love about our seasons here is the contrast of the ground turning green as the trees drop their leaves. This contrast is pretty striking on the farm, where the oaks are winding down and the grasses are just getting started.

Meanwhile, Francisco’s cows seem calm and happy, and enjoying the fresh forage.
